Java vs. JavaScript coding
In today's web programming many Java developers write JavaScript coding hence they tend to follow Java best practice and coding style in JavaScript as well. But there is huge amount of difference in both the coding style and best practices.
Key Differences:
1. Type System
Java is statically typed; JavaScript is dynamically typed. This changes how you think about variables and function parameters.
2. Inheritance
Java uses class-based inheritance; JavaScript uses prototype-based inheritance. Don't try to force Java patterns into JavaScript.
3. Variable Scope
JavaScript has function scope (var) and block scope (let/const). Understanding scope is critical to avoid bugs.
4. Callbacks and Async
JavaScript relies heavily on callbacks and asynchronous programming. This is very different from Java's synchronous model.
When writing JavaScript, embrace its unique features rather than trying to write Java code in JavaScript syntax.
